Introducing The Blockchain Book – Lessons from ‘Blockchain in Government’

In 2023 I wrote The Blockchain Book, bringing together learning from 24 pilots, proof of concepts, and use cases from the ‘Blockchain in Government’ project to show how the next generation of government services will be enabled by blockchain.

BLING – Blockchain in Government – was set up in 2018 to accelerate and de-risk the deployment of blockchain-enabled services in government in Europe. In 2023 I wrote The Blockchain Book – which brings together the learning from BLING’s 24 pilots, proof of concepts, and use cases. The book shows how blockchain-enabled solutions will change how local and regional governments deliver local services, and how governments will work with citizens in the future.

The Blockchain Book shows how blockchain-enabled services can deliver the next generation of government services.

From the largest government blockchain service in the Netherlands, to new ways governments can help people in financial difficulties, this book provides a range of examples of new ways to design and deliver services for communities and citizens. These services not only cross many service areas – including health, energy, and transportation – but also show how to integrate governments and organisations to deliver seamless services to citizens.

The book highlight the many innovative ways in which BLING’s blockchain-enabled solutions have enabled new ways of supporting people and delivering services to communities. In addition, the book also shows new ways that governments can build and deliver privacy-first solutions that help people.
